BARRONSBAKERYBarrons Bakeryin Cappoquin, Co Waterford was established in 1887 by John Barron and is run today by his grand daughter Esther Barron and her husband Joe Prendergast.It is one of the oldest bakeries in Ireland and is the only one that still bakes bread in Scotch brick ovens.These ovens give the bread a unique taste, flavour and crust. The breads include brown and white yeast and soda breads, barm bracks and the famous blaas.The bakery has featured on Irish and international television and recently tied for the Gold award at the inaugural Blas na hEireann National Irish Food Awards.
