Tracy Quinlan (proprietor) admits the moment inspiration struck for Déise Training, was when she became aware of the “2006 Office Space Competition” in conjunction with Clancy Construction & the Waterford County Enterprise Board. This is what gave Tracy the extra push to pursue her long standing business idea.

Tracy always had a dream to open a centre for training in her hometown and so combining her vision with 12 years training experience, Tracy used the business plan that she completed for the Office Space Competition to cover the initial Market Research etc that was required. This Business Plan was also used to acquire funding to complete her ambition by way of a small business loan and funding from the  Waterford County Enterprise Centre.

For those yet to acquaint themselves or use the services available, Déise Training is a professional training facility, owned and managed by Tracy Quinlan. Déise Training benefits from Tracy’s previous employment in the area of software training. Tracy has experience of delivering a wide range of course types; from a basic level, one to one training for small businesses, to corporate training for various multi-national companies in Dungarvan and Waterford.  Summer 06 was when Tracy Quinlan opened Déise Training as a training centre and has gone from strength to strength since.

Déise Training is an accredited training centre for FÁS and the ECDL. They are also a Microsoft Office Specialist Authorised Testing Centre. The Training Centre has undergone auditing of both premises and staff to ensure compliance with all regulations regarding Accreditation of the ECDL Programme. By receiving this Accreditation, Déise Training can deliver all ECDL Programmes, including Pre ECDL, ECDL and ECDL Advanced. The professional approach to all training ensures clients leave our centre more competent and comfortable with the use of a computer and its programs. Déise Training also provides Meeting Space facilities for both meeting and training needs, with full business support services and catering tailored to client requirements. The dedicated meeting space at Déise Training provides a professional environment, together with the latest telecommunications and IT services. This facility is available hourly, daily or even weekly.

What ensures the success of Déise Training Tracy is asked, who responds to say ‘Market Research still operates each season, to determine which classes to run locally to suit Business and private clients’. Tracy attributes the main distinctive features of her business as a professional approach, friendly environment, and great lessons/service provided. Also very importantly listening to your clients needs – Really listening.

Perhaps Tracy underestimates herself though. Leaving a secure job to take the risk and open her own business, initially starting with just her and 1 tutor could be too daunting for many would be entrepreneurs. However it is easy to see that Tracy believes greatly in her own business philosophy; Dedication & Persistence. The staff growth has reached 5 (including office staff and contracted tutors) and Tracy has demonstrated to date how Déise Training has constantly stayed ahead of new software technologies and providing up to date training to her clients. Tracy’s positive outlook and approachable nature is another reason for the rapid progress of a new business!

Tracy suggests the knowledge she has learnt along the way is to take all advice offered and don’t be afraid to try new things. Again another confirmation of this is the new Virtual Office service Déise Training is offering and developing. This is a Virtual Office Service for companies who may not have a requirement for a full-time staff member, but do require services such as telephone answering/faxing/emailing/meeting room facility/postal address.  It’s a very cost-effective solution to a common problem. Another innovative aspect to Déise Training is the Kids Computer Camp that is offered during school holidays, children as young as 6 can attend this fun and educational course and perhaps teach their parents a thing or two on completion!  To other entrepreneurs, Tracy’s advice is to “use all available local assistance, i.e. Chamber of Commerce Membership; contact the Enterprise Board for advice/assistance.  These bodies are extremely helpful to a start-up business and are there to help”.

Based at the very convenient location of The Plaza, Dungarvan Shopping Centre,  Déise Training offers modern and comfortable surroundings with every facility clients would demand and more! Attracting clients mainly from Dungarvan, Waterford City and County, but also as far as Clonmel and Cork, Déise Training proves to be an innovative and successful training centre where owner and staff suggest their rewards are daily job satisfaction, personal achievements and building great business relationships.
